Registrars perform the necessary duties in order to keep Florence Hospital at Anthem  running smoothly on a day-to-day basis. This position requires individuals who are friendly and helpful to patients, physicians, and staff. Individuals must have a high degree of professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness. This position is responsible for receiving, verifying and entering patient specific data into the hospital information system. Registrars serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them. The Registrar will also notify personnel of a visitor’s arrival or incoming phone calls for current patients. 

Requirements:
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Duties for this position may include instructing patients on completing medical forms and reviewing patients' account status. This position is responsible for entering and updating patient specific information, including address, phone number and financial classification into the hospital information system.
    • Collection of payment information and answering patients' questions over the phone or in person is required.
    • Effective communication to the patient and/or family regarding the necessary information needed to complete the registration process, the reason for requesting said information and be able to ascertain that information received is as accurate as possible.
    • Operates related components of the hospital information system to enter, store, process and retrieve patient registration information.
    • Enters, updates, and verifies all alternate resource data for patient.
    • Verifies insurance coverage via internet and enters information into the patient’s registration record; obtains patient signatures on forms required by hospital policy.

     

    Minimum Requirements:

     

    • Candidate requires a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Previous experience working in a medical facility and extensive knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
    • 10 key and personal computer/typing skills required
    • Ability to communicate orally with payers, patients, and other hospital staff
    • Maintain confidentiality of the patient at all times
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Ability to interact with patients and or patient representatives who may be in sensitive or stressful situations
    • Operate keyboard devices such as calculators, computers, etc.
    • Express teamwork and support in the department and all other departments, by working cooperatively
